How to make a rave in 15 easy steps

In case you are thinking about setting up your own rave, loft party or other such fete in an unauthorized space – do make sure that you check out the locations fire exits and mark them out clearly so that nobody will get hurt. Raves are fun, illegal and unfortunately not very common in New York City circa 2009. Anyhow – I hope that whoever carries on the great ole loft rave tradition will put a good amount of energy into making the parties safe and fun, so the tradition can live on.

Step 1: Set up DJ gear, CDJs, Lighting, STROBE and smoke machine!

Step 2: Do the same in the basement (or garage of the building) – make it DARK and don’t forget the strobe!

Step 3: Find a sponsor (don’t tell them that the rave is illegal!)

Step 4: Stock the bar

Step 5: KEEP IT SIMPLE!

Step 6: Simple instructions for the guests too (PISS ON THE FLOOR)!

Step 7: Make a cozy setting – candles on the tables, etc.

Step 8: Invite your friends – and a couple of bad arse DJs

Step 9: ROCK THE PARTY

Step 10: Lean back and enjoy
